Red, White, and Blue Sangria

by Jasmine McNenny on Jun 30, 2015

Celebrate in style this Fourth of July by adding a few sparks to the drink selection with a colorful sangria recipe.

Originating from Spain, sangria is typically just a few basic ingredients - wine, sugar, fruit, and sometimes a splash of brandy or other liquor. Since reaching the states, this simple recipe has been adapted time and time again with hundreds of variations. Ranging from blood red for Halloween to bright green for St. Patrick’s Day, every holiday seems to have its own collection of appropriately themed and appropriately colored sangrias. So now comes the challenge: Independence Day.

We thought the perfect way to celebrate July 4th is a Red, White, and Blue Sangria! Here's what you need:

sangria

1 bottle white wine

1/2 cup simple syrup

1/2 cup club soda

1/2 cup red raspberries

1 white peach

1/2 cup blueberries

1 lemon (1 additional for garnish)

1/2 cup peach schnapps (optional)

1 star fruit for garnish (optional)

We used the Zing 54 carafe as our container, to make sure we got as much flavor as possible!

  1. sangria

    1. Slice peach and add to carafe then add red raspberries and blueberries. Muddle ingredients well to release flavor.

  2. 2. Slice and ream lemon to add lemon juice to carafe

  3. 3. Add simple syrup and peach schnapps if using

  4. 4. Add wine then club soda

  5. 5. Garnish glasses with lemon or star fruit. Stir, pour, and enjoy!
